OTMP – December Meeting 12/21/22 – November Meeting Recap

 December Update:
With being in full swing in the holiday season many of us homebrewers are sharing our brews with friends and family at these gatherings. I for one was happy to bring some 5 year old barrel aged stout to my families Thanksgiving feast, along with some kegged English Brown ale. Opening a barrel aged bottle to share at the dinner table is always exciting as you never know exactly how well it will be perceived or what type of condition it will be in. Thankfully this bottle was damn near perfect and paired well with the Thanksgiving feast.
As for the big holiday on the horizon, many of us are already making our Christmas lists for the homebrewing items that we so dearly want. I know some of you boys have already started treating yourselves to some black friday deals, This year I thought that it would be fitting for me to share my Christmas list for my brewery. In no particular order here they are:

Club Membership Update:
As discussed at last month's meeting we are now charging membership fees of $30 for the first round. We have also elected Colter Wilson as club treasurer, to help keep the books in line. With the addition of this club funding we now have club insurance that is in effect. The insurance will roll into next August when we will be up for renewal and we will begin collecting annual fees again and look at annual due changes.
Things that will be different from here going forward. For insurance purposes we will need the names and emails of all attendees at each meeting, including guests; we will need your to RSVP to meetings each month in advance so we have a count. New members to join the club upon attending their second meeting. A collection kitty at each meeting to kick the host a few $ for the associated costs for the meeting.
Status of Members Payment (will be updated by Colter before December's meeting)

Barrel Project:
There has been some traction on getting a barrel project going. It has been some time since we have done this. Dave has sourced some barrels that we can attain. If we can identify a barrel type and a beer style and recipe we could easily get a project going. Some of the styles that have been thrown around for the project are; Russian Imperial Stout, Imperial Red Ale, Scotch Ale, Old Ale, Grand Cru, or Belgian Quad. There were some brewers interested last month from Dave, Dennis H, Jeff O., Chris and Evan; anyone else out there?

Club Beer Crawl:
Olde Town Mash Paddlers Holiday Beer Crawl
When: Friday, December 30th, 1:30pm
Where: RiNo area.
What: Beer Crawl.
Details:
We'll all meet at Bierstadt at 1:30pm and enjoy some fine lagers. From there, we'll go to Our Mutual Friend, a couple blocks away. Afterwards, we'll stop at Finn's Manor, they have a great tap list with great Belgian imports and good lagers and IPAs. We'll end at River North, which is also just a short walk away.

We'll aim to have 1-2 beers at each place, depending on how the group collectively feels. There is food at most places (if not, there is food within a couple doors of each place).
There's also Odell RiNo and Ratio, if people prefer to go there instead of one of these stops.

If you plan to join later in the crawl, you can text Ryan or ask in the Discord where we're at.
