May 7, 2020 at 4:12 pm #1343chasjsParticipantI think in January, Evan had order some kits for club members who were interested. I have not followed up with him because of the shutdown. Sounds like you could guide us when we are back up and running.

May 7, 2020 at 4:29 pm #1345evan.sherlockKeymasterI am cracking up at this because this morning I decided to refund everyone’s money because we had not made significant progress on getting this project off the ground.
Where are you getting your kits/parts from? Sounds like Colter and I need to see your setup. OR even better if you have the documentation you followed to get yours working. All of this is good to see posted here.
May 7, 2020 at 4:52 pm #1346galford1@gmail.comParticipantHey Evan,
Sounds like I can lend a hand then. I did order my parts in bulk as ordering them in one-off was too expensive. I figured down the road I could help others get them set up and going too I’ll have to check to see what I have sitting on the shelf. Not looking to upcharge anyone on it. I just hope to help others out. I’m just finally getting around to getting my home brewery going and have a lot to learn yet myself but I’m good at the techie stuff. I’ll need to pull up my notes on what I did and what I sourced as I don’t have it handy at the moment but glad to share.

May 22, 2020 at 1:24 pm #1368galford1@gmail.comParticipantHey Guys,
So a guy on youtube that goes by Open Source Distilling just posted his calibration video today. He mentions the same issue I have been having with the 4.0 board that I have purchased. Considering ordering the Jeffery board instead. Is anyone interested?

I ordered a red, blue, and orange in batches of 10 just because the cost difference was so little at that point. The iSpindel board version 4.0 is what I currently have sitting on my desk. I like Jeffery’s board as it provides a better way to adjust the battery weight to calibrate the device. I did just finally find a solution to the calibration of the 4.0 boards today. Turns out there is a wide variance in weights of the batteries even in the exact same model. The battery that I received was heavier than a previous one that I had so I swapped them around and was finally able to get it within the 24-26* angle in pure water.

May 28, 2020 at 10:25 am #1383galford1@gmail.comParticipantI have found the solution to the issues with the 4.0 boards. The battery weight has to be 44 grams and it works great. The batteries I originally purchased weighed 48 grams and made it impossible to calibrate.
June 2, 2020 at 9:51 am #1385galford1@gmail.comParticipantHey guys, just a quick FYI, there is a new updated board released of the Jeffery. He made a couple of small improvements and corrections.
January 7, 2022 at 7:09 pm #2106galford1@gmail.comParticipantDoesn’t seem to be a lot of interest in this topic but in case anyone has a renewed interest I’m digging my setup back out right now to get it going again. Jeffery now has an updated version 2.6 that has some nice upgrades and revisions to it but I’m going to attempt to make the boards I have work first.
