I have experience a minor crisis in that I have not kept up on my brewing and my Keezer is now empty of any homebrew. On the other hand this will give me an opportunity to move into some summer brews.
I will definitely be making my Citra IPA because that is what I like to drink – my go to brew. I may make a double batch (10 gal.) and split it into two fermentors and experiment with different yeasts and different dry hopping.
I also am going to make a Summer Blonde Ale. I have found over the years that many people are still BMC drinkers and don’t always go for craft beers especially hoppy beers. I thought a nice blonde that was light and crisp would be a good way to introduce them to craft beer.
I thought I would ask what others brew up for summer. I am also looking at doing a cream ale.

Four years ago Dean and I both seemed to get into brewing these around the same time. Mine was a little darker than deans but both ended up being really sweet and smooth, like a light beer that was dark. Really light in alcohol and easy to pour a few to enjoy on the back deck.

Sounds like a good recipe.
May 16, 2019 at 4:27 pm #616SpauldParticipantHey Chuck, you know I like my lagers and three of my recipes are pretty good summer drinkers; helles, Czech-style pils and Altbier. That said, if lagering is not on the agenda, a good ol English pale ale sure goes down easy during those dog days of summer, due to the lower ABV. Easy peasy to make too!

…I bottled two batches about three weeks ago as my last brews this season.Attachments:

I did a bastardized Amber Kellerbier last weekend. And early June should see an IPA brewed up.
I’m also a little low on consumables in my keezer.

May 31, 2019 at 4:35 am #676SpauldParticipant…. more important than BREWING????😮
June 4, 2019 at 7:17 am #677levesque78ParticipantI will let you know the next time I plan to distill. Going to see how the first batches come out first and then adjust as appropriate.
June 6, 2019 at 11:02 am #691SamParticipantI kegged up my simple Cream Ale last Saturday, June 1. I sampled it on Monday, June 4, and thought this could be a great lawn mower ale; light, easy drinking, nice carbonation. Then Monday night my keg decided to empty itself into the bottom of my keezer. 🙁 And it emptied my CO2 cylinder. 🙁
Guess I get to make it again!
