    Hey All,

I had a couple of hours today and decided to do a short and shoddy batch of IPA. We will see how it turns out. This is a extract batch done with only a 15 in boil. So I loaded it up on hops on the bittering charge. We will see how it turns out.

It turned out to be 1.61 for the OG and it is in the fermenter right now.

    Cheers

LOL, I’ve had my share of blow off messes to clean up!

I was surprised it was this crazy of a fermentation. The Imperial Yeast has been pretty awesome.

Am I reading that graph right? Did your gravity go up before dropping? If so, any idea why that happens?

I use a tilt and I had very little headspace. I think it got lodged in the small space as the pressure was building up pre-blowoff. Then it would throw and off reading.

What type of malt extract did you use? DME / LME? It has been years since I have made one of these types of beers, this might be the only way I get my Belgian beer made for July.

I used DME and I had a 1 hour brew day because of it. I really hate LME it’s so messy.

Started cold crashing the shitty IPA today. I will keg and then bottle it tomorrow. 1.061 and I think 1.009. I will check with my hydrometer just before I keg it.

I would say that it lack hop aroma but does not lack any bitterness. I did not dry hop it and I bet if I did I would not have the aroma issue.
