Does anyone know if Star San kills viruses? I’m not especially concerned, but with the run on cleaning supplies, thought I’d ask! Also, I’ll trade a container or Clorox wipes for beer 😆

The answer is yes it will kill a virus. But it is only a sanitizer. You will still need to clean the surface first.

More beer sells something called Alpet D2 Sanitizer. It is a viracide (sp), so it’s made especially for killing all sorts of stuff (including used to kill viruses…of course). It’s not cheap, something like $15 per quart spray bottle, but one squirt goes a long way. I use it to sanitize my ball valves before transferring/kegging.

Are the crazies also buying up all the jugs of bleach? My thinking is you can make a simple sterilizer by diluting a bit of that in a spray bottle of water.

Oh Jim, don’t go to the grocery store. It’s not just bleach, it’s everything sanitizer-related. Bleach, Rubbing Alcohol, Hand sani, and also for some reason toilet paper, Kleenex, and paper towels. It’s bizarre.

This makes me wonder if Star San is good for my pink eye, anyone?

Pink eye!? OK, I was leaning away from attending the OTMP this month anyway (trying to do my part with the whole “social distancing” thing), but if any question, pink eye would certainly seal the deal for me! Ha ha.
