As a reminder that next Wednesday (4/24/19) we have a private tour of Tivoli Brewery scheduled at 7pm. Only two people have confirmed with me. Not that we need to, but a general head count is always nice, so I know I’m not waiting for people to start the tour.

    Tivoli Brewery:
900 Auraria Parkway, Suite 240, Denver, CO

Park in the paid parking garage.

I’d like to start at 7pm, so please account for this and maybe be a little early.

You can reply here or try and help Evan get a list of names at tomorrow’s meeting, that I can’t make. 🙁

I will not be at the meeting tonight because of child care but will make it to the tour. I am excited it should be very fun.

    Cheers

Thanks to all that came. We had about 7 people for the tour. The history of the building and what they were able to preserve was neat.

Speaking for myself, the coolest thing were the horizontal fermenters. I’ve honestly never seen those before. The head brewer explained they used them for 2 reasons: 1) space – because they were limited in certain areas as to the height of the ceiling. It being a historical building, they could only change so much. 2) Hefe and Belgian yeasts worked better when being exposed to more liquid as opposed to sitting on the bottom of a huge vertical tank.

Not sure there’d be the same benefit for us homebrewers, but it was a really cool way to do it.

“Don’t fall in a fermenter when no one else is around, you will die.” -Life lessons learned on the Tivoli brewery tour.
