Well so much for the roads being better – lol
galford1@gmail.comParticipantAnyone ever snag this?
galford1@gmail.comParticipantMan, you guys are hard core! 😉
galford1@gmail.comParticipantWell, with the change to holding the event outside and my utter dislike of cold weather I think I will defer to the next meeting. I Look forward to meeting you all then.
galford1@gmail.comParticipantAwesome, I did find that chalk mark 😉 I have added the address info to my calendar event. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
galford1@gmail.comParticipantI just got my CIP setup built out for the fermenters this last week. Also received the remaining parts to have a 3 set of keg washers, one for PBW, Water rinse and then Saniclean rinse. I’ve been working on the little details now of the cleanup and such to make life easier. Looking at having a couple TC fittings added to my FTS lids so I can drop the CIP ball in.

galford1@gmail.comParticipantThanks guys, its been a lot of work but finally on the road to making beer! Looking forward to meeting you on the 19th. If someone could send me the super secret location information I’ll be sure to attend. (or I’ll be standing at the corner of 58th & Independence with a sign – lol)
For what ever reason my initial post didn’t allow the second photo to load, I’ll attach it here. This should help answer the fermentation question along with the serving part – I have two Brewtech SS conical fermenters – one 14 Gallon and one Half Barrel both with the FTS Glycol system. I have a glycol chiller that I have attach to both. I have a staging/conditioning keezer downstairs and another beer fridge upstairs in the garage for serving via keg. I also have a couple of glass carboys I’m going to play with just for fun, one is 5 gallons, the other is 6. I’m sticking to kegging for now, I have 8 5 gallon torpedo’s to fill up. Next brew day I have scheduled is going to be on the 23rd. Going to brew a Kolsch.
My first brew, a Sweet Stout seems to be stuck at 1.035 SG so I just transferred it to the glass carboy and re-pitched yeast this morning to see if I can get it to finish out. Hoping to get to 1.020 SG. Started at 1.066 so not sure why it stalled.

galford1@gmail.comParticipantDoesn’t seem to be a lot of interest in this topic but in case anyone has a renewed interest I’m digging my setup back out right now to get it going again. Jeffery now has an updated version 2.6 that has some nice upgrades and revisions to it but I’m going to attempt to make the boards I have work first.
galford1@gmail.comParticipantSpauld:
Would love to chat and have way to many questions right now to try and list them. Probably best to have you over for a beer and show you my setup. 😉 For New Years the wife and I just completed our very first brew on our new setup, made a “Sweet Stout” recipe from the Zymurgy magazine. I realized afterword that I have a lot to re-learn and figure out. Made several mistakes along the way so interested to see how it actually comes out. Would love to learn how to make a good Helles, we just had a bunch of them in the Christmas Advent Beer Calendar from Costco. (All great German Beers)
I’m a big DIY guy myself, and looked at doing the same for my chiller initially but I didn’t have a lot of free time at that point but had just completed some side work that paid for the chiller so I figured why not. I just dug out my iSpindel’s and I’m in the process of rebuilding my Fermentrack Raspberry Pi to log the data with.
Would love to attend the next meeting, looking forward to it. Not afraid of all this pandemic stuff, I’ve been in the office every day with 300+ people through this the entire time. Its more of the mental drain from it all and not enough down time to recharge a bit. Would love to swing by the Bier Barn to chat and learn. This month is already pretty busy but I’ll see if I can get a Saturday freed up. What’s the best way to reach out to you?

galford1@gmail.comParticipantHi Spauld,
No, we haven’t had the chance to meet as of yet. I’ve been lurking on here for a couple years but up until now my build for my system at home has been under construction. 3 years later and its FINALY ready! Going to make my first attempt at home this weekend in fact. (I have a lot to learn and its now been a couple years since I last brewed anything) Anyone interested in giving me lessons on my setup? 🙂 I’m a tech guy so I learn pretty quick.
I had hoped by now things would have returned to a little more “normal” and been able to meet up with everyone but we have all seen how that has been working out thus far.
My Chiller I have only used a couple times thus far but I did fire it back up last night to test it out. Everything worked, just needed to add a couple of gallons of distilled water to top off the glycol tank from evaporation, not bad considering it has an 8 gallon tank 50/50 mix and sat unused for a couple years. I did add an aquarium tank pump to the reservoir just for recirculation in the tank to aid with moving the fluid around but this is probably overkill. Only complaint I have is the controller doesn’t do F* but that’s not really an issue since C* is technically more accurate.
Hope to meet you all soon.
Davegalford1@gmail.comParticipantI looked at going the refrigerator route when I was building my system but I kept having a hard time finding one that would be deep enough yet still compact to fit and an affordable price so I ended up taking the plunge and going with one from ebay. I’m really just getting started and have a lot to learn so we will see yet if it was the best choice but I like it so far. This is the unit I picked up: https://www.ebay.com/itm/283154620355 and I added a couple Brewtech Stainless fermenters to it. Definitely not a cheap solution but it does work quite well.
galford1@gmail.comParticipantHey guys, just a quick FYI, there is a new updated board released of the Jeffery. He made a couple of small improvements and corrections.
galford1@gmail.comParticipantI have found the solution to the issues with the 4.0 boards. The battery weight has to be 44 grams and it works great. The batteries I originally purchased weighed 48 grams and made it impossible to calibrate.
galford1@gmail.comParticipantAnd a picture of the first couple iSpindel devices I built. The first one that I built was based on a kit that I found some time back.
