I have done hops in my front yard for 3 years now. I currently have Cascade, Chinook and Pacific Gem. The Cascade and Chinook do fantastic and produce well, the Pacific Gem grows well but the hops are so tiny that they dont work out that well to harvest and brew with.
I do have some more on order as of this week. I ordered up some Nugget, Magnum, Mt. Hood, and Goldings. Hoping these new ones work out as these varieties are much closer to what I do brew with.

March 30, 2019 at 12:44 pm #132SpauldParticipantLOL, yes….well, at least the rhizomes are!……btw, in my experience, they need to be planted EARLY in the season. Others may have had more success with late plantings, but every rhizome I’ve planted late always seems to struggle.
March 30, 2019 at 1:19 pm #133colterwKeymasterLike April early?

I elected to keep mine in large pots to keep them contained.

April 4, 2019 at 11:07 am #239discmonkeyParticipantI’m growing Sterling, Crystal and Multihead. This is their 4th year and they all seem to be handling the environment well.

April 9, 2019 at 1:48 pm #329SpauldParticipantThey were barely out of the ground last Friday….now they’re going nuts! They love this warm weather.
