Grain Bill Creative Brews "Competition" – June 2020
June Meeting 2020 participating members to showcase their creativity. Members might team up with other members if they are only partial mash guys, a few in the club offered to host others.
The designated grain bill is:
75% – Crisp Maris – 2 row (not floor malted)
10% – Weyermann – Munich 10°
5% – Crisp 77 / Crystal 77 or a Crystal 60° / 80°
10% – Weyermann – Pale Wheat Malt
Any hops / hop schedule
Any yeast

Beers:
- Sam – SMASH Beer – Pils / Galaxy, 7%. Brewed on Chicho yeast. Boasting a huge piney nose and grapefruit on the palate with a dry finish and wrapped up in a pale color.
- Mick – Partial mash brew ringing in at 5.8% with Chinook, Cascade and EKG; a very malty brew with chocolate and smoke malt highlights.
- Evan – English Brown – 4.7%, a sweet and rich brew.
- Chris – Dunkle – Munich , 2-row and chocolare malts. A "Nice Beer!", with a feature of malty richness and fermented on Wyeast #2206 and ringing in at 5.7%
- Voss – Maibock, dubbed the Yapping Dog, started at 1.082 and finished at 1.010, brewed in November. Notable apricot nose, a pale yellow/ golden color. 8%
- Cody – golden Ale – A very effervescent brew with a pale color, 6%.
- Clay – Irish Stout – Made with Marris Otter, Barley, Roast Barley, 4.1%. Nice highlights from the galena hops with a plesent bitterness and great mouthfeel.
- Chris – Chocolate Milk Stout – 5.3% Brewed in August 2019, same beer from previous months.
- Nicholas – Chocolate Mint Stout – 4.5% brew fermented on WLP004. Made with 2-row, barley, carafa III, C40, and Celestial Seasonings Peppermint tea. Dubbed the "Dirty girl Scout" and comments of "It is thin mints!" were made, Gordon was even able to taste the mint, a very unique brew.
- Sam – Chocolate Cherry Stout – Brewed with 3 oz of chocolate powder, 3 oz chocolate extract, 18 oz cherry concentrate, 10 oz of vanilla, pale malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, carafa III, Dexedrine, victory, special b, oats, magnum, el dorado, and fermented on Chico yeast. Nice balanced flavor and a treat for the taste buds.
- Voss – The "Mystery Dean" – A bottle from the depths of a house that once was Deans, Special B and Oats were perceived. Only to be followed up by "Mystery Dean II" next month.
- Colter – Colter's best friends, aunt's cousin from next door twice removed – Cider. A nice orange blossom flavor that was slightly tart and clean finish. Then Cider #2 featured blackberry and a delicious flavor.
- Ryan – Imperial Stout – "As Rich as Bezos!" or "Cheesecake Halo" was named by members of the club; this full flavor brew was a hit because it was amazingly smooth.
- Nick – Kiwi IPA – 6.5% – Brewed with 2-row, C40, Carapils, with an OG of 1.063 and finishing at 1.013. Hopped with Pacific Jade and Magnum. This beer featured a nice orange, mandarin and fruit loops flavors.
- Clay – IPA – At 8.2% this brew featured Galena and Citra hops. This yellow/copper/orange brew highlighted some great hops flavors on a present grain background.
